The Danish Environmental Economic Conference
The Secretariat of The Danish Economic Councils host the 17th annual environmental conference for anyone with an interest in environmental economics and policy at Kurhotel Skodsborg on 22nd and 23rd of August 2024.
This year's conference offers the following presentations:
- Clive L. Spash, Professor at University of Vienna, on Environmental Crises and the Need for Radical Change in Economic Thought
Furthermore, there will be two special sessions with panel debates on:
Fiscal implications of the green transition and decarbonization
- Ruud de Mooij, Deputy Director at The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
- Lars Haagen Pedersen, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Finance
Biodiversity and Economy
- Carsten Rahbek, Professor at University of Copenhagen and Director of Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate
- Jette Bredahl Jacobsen, Professor at Department of Food and Resource Economics at University of Copenhagen and vice chair for the European Advisory Board for Climate Change
- Peter Møllgaard, Professor, president at Copenhagen Business School and chair at The Danish Council on Climate Change
The conference will also have parallel sessions where conference participants present their work.
The dinner speech will be given by Michael Bang Petersen, Professor at Aarhus University, and will have the title Public behavior during societal crises: From the pandemic to the climate crisis.

Purpose of the conference
To create an overview of the current policy relevant environmental economic knowledge.
- To contribute to a well-informed political and scientific discussion in the area of environmental economics and policy.
- To bridge the gap between various subject areas and among researchers, practicians, and others.
- To inspire the national environmental economic community through presentations by international experts.
Target audience
Researchers, students, politicians, government employees, consultants, NGO's. Economists as well as non-economists.
